Westralia is back out there - doing what she does best.
Westralia (CMDR Peter Stafford) recently replenished her first
ship in 18 months, following her Intermediate Docking at Forgacs
Cairncross Dockyard in Brisbane.
Westralia was on the blocks for three weeks while her hull was
meticulously cleaned, blasted and repainted. Some of the more
significant achievements associated with the docking were the
removal and overhauling of the propeller hub and associated controllable
pitch propeller equipment, inner and outer stern seals and stern
frame survey.
She left Brisbane in mid-July for phase one of workups.
Her first serial was a RAS (L) with HMAS Ballarat. The ship’s
company then completed her Unit Readiness Evaluation before heading
to Darwin for Ex Singaroo.
Westralia is now on her way to Singapore, Japan and The Philippines
in company with HMA Ships Anzac, Arunta and Canberra.
