LCDR Galloway gives AB Ryan a demonstration on how teeth should be brushed.

Top oral hygiene is a must in the Royal Australian Navy.

Before deployment sailors have their teeth checked not wanting to be in agony from a cavity when their minds must be concentrating on their naval role.

Even those not deploying routinely visit the dentist.

As a result defence dental surgeries around Australia are kept busy.

HMAS Albatross photographer ABPH Brad Darvill visited the surgery on his base the other day.

In the chair at the time was AB Chantelle Ryan.

Checking her teeth and giving her a guide on proper teeth brushing techniques was LCDR (dentist) Catherine Galloway.

She was assisted by ABDEN Jade Van Haeff.
