EXTRA functionality continues to be provided in PMKeyS Self Service (PSS).

In late February, it is anticipated that personnel will be provided with additional details in their personal information summary and new pages which will include operational service, promotion, posting and course histories.

Defence is also examining the feasibility of recording Performance Appraisals online, bypassing the current Webform process.

In December last year, new pages under the menu item My Qualifications were released, which include proficiencies, degrees, honours and awards, and professional memberships.

PSS has recently passed its first anniversary of operation. During that time, a little over 50 per cent of ADF personnel have accessed their record on at least one occasion.

On average, about 20,000 members are accessing PSS each month. Members with Defence Restricted Network (DRN) access can access a variety of personal and employment details and can update data, including home address, telephone numbers and emergency contact details.

Personnel can quickly and easily check leave balances, ensure that Nominated Family for Leave Travel and dependant/beneficiary details are correct, print a payslip or submit a new Employment Preference and Restriction.

ADF members responsible for supervising APS staff may have also approved leave or validated education qualifications using PSS.

Many ADF members have submitted suggestions for PSS enhancements.

All suggestions for improvement are welcome and highly valued and, where practical, incorporated. Although not all ADF members have DRN access, this is an issue that Defence is addressing. In the meantime, members without access are still able to call on local administrative staff to provide these services.

If you need help, there are instructions on each page, online user guides and Defence Service Centre staff are available to provide assistance.

Officer qualifications

OFFICER promotion boards, starting with the upcoming promotion series, will be presented with details of officer tertiary qualifications (TQs) as they were before the introduction of PMKeyS.

TQs are a relative efficiency factor for promotion boards to consider. Officers are encouraged to check a TQ spreadsheet located at People Central for the accuracy of their qualifications currently on PMKeyS.

If you have previously submitted your TQs, you are also encouraged to check the accuracy of the data as uploaded to ensure that the correct information is presented to the promotion boards.

Minor anomalies in the qualification title, the subject major or subject minor may appear, as the wording is limited to a drop-down menu on PMKeyS.

Your qualifications can now also be viewed on PMKeyS Self Service. All officers are advised to check the accuracy of this data whenever they are awarded new qualifications.

Qualifications of diploma level and higher, other than those obtained through the completion of Service equivalencies, will be presented to the promotion boards annually.

Personnel seeking to record TQs should approach unit or base administrative staff with PD&T access in PMKeyS to have their qualifications recorded.

The education bench level instruction tab in the DMA web site (http://intranet.defence.gov.au/raafweb/sites/dma-af/) provides further guidance for personnel experiencing problems with having their TQs recorded on PMKeyS at a base or unit level.
