Sydney will have a new hub recruiting the nation’s next generation of Australian Defence Force personnel following the successful relocation of the Defence Force Recruiting Centre Sydney from Parramatta to Rhodes Corporate Park.

Minister for Defence Personnel Darren Chester said the central position of the Centre ensured better access for new recruits from the broader Sydney metropolitan region.

“The Defence Force Recruiting Centre Sydney is critical to driving ADF capability and is responsible for 12 per cent of the new recruits into permanent positions each year,” Mr Chester said.

“There’s something very special about those who chose to wear the uniform of either the Navy, Army or Air Force willing to make a difference and do something extraordinary for their country.

“Australia has a world class defence force that all Australians can be proud of and anyone who is looking for a challenge, enjoys working s part of a team with access to the best training the world has to offer should consider a career in the ADF.

“Our Government is continuing to bridge the gap between military and civilian life to ensure the essential services and support programmes our serving men and women, veterans and their families rely on are being delivered.”

Mr Chester said in 2017, Sydney and surrounds contributed 15.3 per cent of the ADF’s Reserve intake, which is why a central location for this centre is important to support continuous recruitment.

“This central location also allows for greater engagement with local businesses and community organisations to better support employees and volunteers who serve in the ADF Reserves,” he said.

The official opening of the new centre included a ceremony recognising the traditional custodians of the land, the Wangal people, and an enlistment ceremony welcoming the latest recruits into the Army Reserve.
