The Liberal National Government is investing in capabilities for the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to rapidly and independently support a range of operations in the region including humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, peacekeeping and warfighting.

The first $150 million of the $500 million Deployable Force Infrastructure Project (LAND 8140) will fund work to modernise deployable sanitation, catering, water management and treatment, shelters, and power generation.

Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon Linda Reynolds CSC said the funding will provide responsive, scalable and adaptable deployable infrastructure to meet evolving operational needs.

“While this modernised capability will be used on missions overseas, it will also enhance support the ADF provides for humanitarian assistance and responding to natural disasters, including bushfire emergencies in Australia,” Minister Reynolds said.

Minister for Defence Industry, the Hon Melissa Price MP said the project would provide significant new partnership opportunities with Australian defence industry.

“I encourage local companies to explore how they can be part of these Defence investments across our region,” Minister Price said.

Details about tender opportunities will be available on AusTender from February to March 2020.
