Australia gratefully accepts Japan’s offer to support Australia’s bushfire response, by providing two C-130 Hercules transport aircraft.

The Japan Self-Defense Force aircraft will transport military and civilian personnel involved with firefighting, as well as equipment required for recovery efforts.

As bushfires continue to impact vast areas of Australia, the Australian Defence Force has made a significant contribution to support the bushfire response and recovery effort.

Minister for Defence, Senator the Hon Linda Reynolds CSC welcomed Japan’s generous offer to deploy two transport aircraft and associated personnel to Australia.

“Japan’s offer of support is deeply appreciated by the Australian people and demonstrates the strength of the friendship between Australia and Japan,” Minister Reynolds said.

The aircraft will be based at Royal Australian Air Force Base Richmond in New South Wales.
