Minister for Defence Senator the Hon Marise Payne and Indonesian Minister of Defence Ryamizard Ryacudu today signed the Australia-Indonesia Defence Cooperation Arrangement.

The Australia-Indonesia Defence Cooperation Arrangement reaffirms the strength of our longstanding relationship and our intent to deepen our engagement in future decades.

This updated Arrangement demonstrates our commitment to enhancing defence cooperation on shared security challenges into the future.

Our bilateral defence relationship is built on mutual respect for each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, which is underpinned by the Lombok Treaty. Reaffirming  and strengthening our defence cooperation will enable us to continue to address our shared strategic interests and counter mutual security threats, including maritime security and terrorism.

The signing occurred in the margins of the inaugural Sub-Regional Defence Ministers’ Meeting on Counter-Terrorism in Perth.
