Mal Brough was sworn in as the Minister for Defence Materiel and Science and Special Minister of State in the Australian Government on 21 September 2015.

Mr Brough was first elected to Parliament in 1996 and held a number of Ministerial positions including Employment Services (2001-2004), Minister Assisting the Minister for Defence (2003-2004), Minister for Revenue and Assistant Treasurer (2004-2006) and Minister for Families and Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (2006-2007) before he was defeated at the 2007 election.

He returned to Parliament as the Member for Fisher in 2013.

Mr Brough served in the military from 1979-1987 and worked in the private sector until he was elected to Parliament.
