Australian defence companies will again be provided the opportunity to showcase their world-class capabilities around the globe, with applications opening today for the third edition of the Australian Military Sales Catalogue.
Minister for Defence, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, called on Australian defence companies to submit their applications for inclusion in the 2019 edition of the Catalogue.
“Australian companies have a proven track record of success in international markets, and can offer innovative and niche capabilities in support of foreign capability requirements,” said Mr Pyne.
“It is my aspiration that every allied defence minister has a copy of the 2019 Catalogue on their desk showcasing our great Australian capabilities, and that our Australian Defence Attaches overseas have a useful resource they can use to promote Australian defence exports.
While the Catalogue has traditionally focused on selling surplus Australian Defence Force equipment, the 2018 edition of the Catalogue was expanded to include a defence industry section.
“This is a unique opportunity for Australian Small and Medium Enterprises to promote their capabilities to our military allies: to utilise our overseas Australian Defence staff, extend the awareness of their products and services, and grow their export opportunities,” said Mr Pyne.
“Increased exports lead to more local jobs being created, and give Australian businesses the ability to fill in the peaks and troughs often experienced by defence industry. Defence exports will ensure our Australian capability remains world class.
“I encourage every Australian defence company to submit their application to showcase their capabilities in the 2019 Catalogue.”
More information on how to make a submission can be found at http://www.defence.gov.au/casg/DoingBusiness/Internationalengagementandexportsupport/AustralianMilitarySalesOffice/. Submissions close on 19 October 2018.
All Australia defence exports are subject to approval according to Australia’s rigorous export control regulations.
